Why Does My GFCI Outlet Keep Tripping Randomly Without Load?

A GFCI can trip with no load due to moisture in the box, a true ground fault on the circuit, a weakening GFCI device, loose wiring, or shared-neutral wiring issues. We diagnose by testing line/load connections, insulation, and the GFCI itself, then repair or replace as needed. We provide GFCI testing during safety inspections and 24/7 emergency repairs in Northeast CO, including Sterling, Fort Morgan, and Brush.

  • Unplug everything on the circuit and press Reset.
  • Dry outdoor or bath outlets/covers, then retry.
  • If it still trips, stop using it and call a licensed electrician.
