What should I do first when a circuit breaker trips in my home?

First, unplug or switch off devices on that circuit, then reset the breaker fully OFF and back ON. If it trips again, stop and call a licensed electrician. In Sterling or Fort Morgan, repeated tripping usually means an overload or a fault.

  • Unplug space heaters, microwaves, or other heavy loads.
  • Reset: push to OFF firmly, then to ON.
  • Press RESET on any GFCI outlets.
  • If you smell burning or feel heat, do not reset.
  • Call for 24/7 help if power is critical.
